Help with pix 501 client to site setup..

pavolkarkas
Level 1
Level 1

Hello everyone, i'm trying to setup a client to site vpn and after a few days

i'm at wit's end.

I'd appreciate ANY help or tip here.

I tried to set up the config via CLI and PDM, all to no avail.

Although the VPN client log suggests invalid password, I'm positive that the groupname password is correct.

I'm using Cisco VPN Client v. 5.0.07.0290

Mmmm.. what version of vpn client are you using?

If you are using the latest one, looks like you might have to downgrade it to an older version as your PIX version is pretty old.

As per the debug outputs, the ISAKMP proposal is not accepted by the PIX firewall.

I would suggest that you try to add a few more ISAKMP policies as follows:

isakmp policy 10 authentication pre-share
isakmp policy 10 encryption  3des
isakmp policy 10 hash sha
isakmp policy 10 group 2
isakmp  policy 10 lifetime 86400

isakmp policy 30 authentication pre-share
isakmp policy 30 encryption des
isakmp policy 30 hash md5
isakmp policy 30 group 2
isakmp  policy 30 lifetime 86400

isakmp policy 40 authentication pre-share
isakmp policy 40 encryption des
isakmp policy 40 hash sha
isakmp policy 40 group 1
isakmp  policy 40 lifetime 86400

Hope that helps. If it's still failing above the above configuration, please run the debug output again, and share it on post. Thanks.

Thanks for giving it a shot halijenn! It still doesn't connect however.

Below is the debug output from the pix
