Need help throttling Bandwidth By IP

Unanswered Question
Jul 6th, 2010

I need to be able to throttle bandwidth for a specific server (the AV server) going out to all clients. We keep running into the issue of users turning on systems that haven't beeen on for a while and our AV server pushing out all the updates for the Virus def's and client updates all at once, basically chewing up all the bandwidth on that circuit until finished. This normally wouldn't be that much of an issue except it without fail will happen during peak logon times and our phones end up blowing up with calls about slow network speeds. Can someone help? It is a cisco 3825 router running

C3560-IPSERVICESK9-M Vers 12.2(46)SE

Thanks in advance

I have this problem too.

You can create an ACL that matches the server IP or traffic pattern.

Reference this ACL under a class-map and then apply it to an egress policy-map with a shaper action.

With that said, your hardware and IOS image do not match. You said a 3845 router while the image belongs to a switch.

What kind of hardware do you have at hand?

My mistake.. clicked on the wrong node.. its is as follows:

(C3825-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(16a)

on the router.. That was our Core Switch
