Are the instructions in this old app note still compatible with the recent software pack upgrades?

Yes, to my knowledge, there is nothing in new releases that would keep this from working. One thing to be aware of is the TCL script required to make this work requires an incoming POTS dial peer. This means that this feature will not work if you are using a SIP trunk for inbound fax calls.

Hope this helps.

So if the customers fax # is a SIP line, we need to do what then? Have them change their fax # for their business? Or plug the output of the existing ATA into an FXS line?

There is a workaround, but it will only work for 1 inbound DID. So, if there faxes are being delivered via SIP, you can use the on-ramp script to deliver a single fax number to a single mailbox. If you want to have a DID for each user that allows faxing to their inbox, you cannot do this with the on-ramp script when using a SIP trunk. If you want to deliver inbound faxes to a fax machine, there is no problem using SIP.

Hope this helps.
