Any ideas what would be a good ( and cost-effective) switching platform for SSM multicast receiver LANs?
We have a requirement to deploy cost-effective solution for access of SSM multicast feed. Around 200 receiver hosts will be sending IGMPv3 signals to join a subscribe to one of 1000 multicast groups.
We intend to use c3750-48 stack for the purpose. But we have few concerns like:
1. Should IGMPv3 snooping be enabled? If we enable it, it will load the CPU, and if we don't then we risk continous broadcast in the LAN. Anyone aware of any caveats around igmp snooping for igmp v3 on c3750 platform?
2. In a stack, will the master switch get overwhelmed handling multicast packets?
3. Anyone aware of any issues around multicast and etherchannels?
Any suggestions will be very helpful.
