Hi Team,

I am Rajesh Sindhu working for UNO.

I am in implimetation phase for DMM5.1. I am configuring Digital Signage and ETV, during that in Video on demand service i am facing problem for remote control configuration. I checked and found its to be configured via some webpage but where is that webpage?

I have One DMM server only but no seprate VPM appliance server. If its related to VPM then as i don,t have VPM, is there any other way to configure this?

I am beginner in DMM.

Thanks,

RS

For the DMM version 5.1, you can edit the remote control settings

here:

* Goto the DMM Server

* Select the "Digital Signage" Module

* Select the "Enterprise TV" Tab

* Select the "Remote Control" tab under Enterprise TV

URL:

https://dmm.company.com:8443/etv-admin-webapp/app/remoteControlSettingsForm

Hi Mr. Thomas,

Great to hear u, thanks a ton.

I know this page but here it asks "to navigate this url with mobile device", how to do that and which URL and is this mobile device is remote control?

Regards,

RS

The URL to use on a moble device is:

http://dmm.company.com:8080/etv-remotecontrol-webapp/app/dmpSelector.htm

The problem that you will experience is the LENGTH of the URL.
This is a known issue.
The field that you reference is used to display on the Display.
so you could try to shorten for display purposes.
Also, you could setup a DNS alias for the DMM server to help
shorten the URL..
ie.
remote.company.com:8080/etv-remotecontrol-webapp/app/dmpSelector.htm
There is a shortcut in version DMS 5.2

The Documentation Online is at:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_1/dmm/user/guide/dsm+etv.html#wp1827301

The URL is:

http://<DMM_hostname>:8080/etv-remotecontrol-webapp/app/index.htm.

Step 6 Enter a shortened URL in the Access URL field for a page that will redirect ultimately to http://<DMM_hostname>:8080/etv-remotecontrol-webapp/app/index.htm.

Note The shortened URL must not be more than 24 characters long.

The PIN is used for security and DMP access.  The User will use the PIN that is displayed on the TV to

access that specific TV.

Cheers!

Hi Tomas,

Goodmorning.

Thanks for your support.

I tried to get the link as you said but i am not available screen, also i am forbidden to access the documentation even after login.

Do i need to configure something else too, to get this.

Notice that your URL is incorrect.

You have HTTPS not HTTP  and you have 2 ports  8443\8080

As the URL example shows, Your should only use HTTP and port 8080.

http://:8080/etv-remotecontrol-webapp/app/index.htm

Cheers

Oh Yes,

Thanks a lot.

U r right, i have corrected that now, i can see a new screen displaying few keys but are disabled, i have added a keyboard to my laptop to get numeric keypad, but still its not a help.

Added to that this to get remote control on workstation but how to get key working on remote control device itself. Like if i have remote control in hand, i must be able to control the media.

Sorry for late replies, as i was out of office all the day.

Note: The Remote Control App feature is geared towards a "mobile" device not a

laptop.  There is limited functionality for the Actual Remote and the Remote application.

The Remote App is to be used with Enterprise TV (5.1) and Cast (5.2).

The Remote app is used for navigation and starting & stopping Media assets.

This all works fine.

What are your expectations & intentions for use of this feature?

T.

Hi Tom,

Good Morning,

Sorry for late replies, i was busy in vacations:)

Well, for the remote control device, which we use hand to hand device is to control functions for the contents like to forward/ rewind, pause/play or stop/ mute functions etc. Now using this tiny gadget i can go start/stop, mute, show IP and Menu functions but not like forward and rewind and other four colored  buttons.

As you told we have some limited functions working for virtual remote but can we enable all functions of actual remote control device?

Thanks a ton for your patience and support.

The actual remote also is limited in features at this

time.  There are a lot of variables that need to be

looked at to get a full functional remote for

video assets on the DMP.

The reason the remote has the buttons are for

future use.

Cheers!

Hi Tom,

Thanks for information. But i also discovered some thing not normal, as i am using IE8.0 but in this i can not click on any of  radio buttons as no response found.

At the same if i use mozilla, i can get some response but not as displayed, for example if i click on 8 it should go down but i gets ETVaction=select same like Enter 5 buttons. MENU 0 button does not respond. Others like 1  and 7 for volume does not respond at all.  Channel 3 responds for Main menu and 9 responds for toggle, i don,t know if it is OK.

Can we customize these actions? and do i need some activex or plugin for virtual remote?

Thanks,

RS

RS,

the URLs that are listed are NOT supported in PC or Client Devices.  The

are ONLY supported on MOBILE devices and that is why some this do not

work as you mention.  There is no remote support of PC like end user devices.

This is being looked at for Future Releases but nothing has been committed

yet.

Cheers
