Our office has an RV016 with multiple WAN connections used to control the 192.168.1.0 lan for user computers. Our phone system however is on a vlan smart switch located at 192.168.5.1. Any device on the RV016 is capable of connecting to any device on switch however the other direction is not possible. We need, if possible, a way to configure the smart switch so that it can route traffic from any device on .5.0 to any device on .1.0 including the internet connections. For reference the switch is an Adtran NetVanta 1238 and it is currently responsible for dhcp on .5.0. I know the RV016 is not vlan capable but if there is a somewhat simple work around that would be helpful, or a recommendation on what is necessary hardware wise to make this possible.

In order for the 192.168.5.0/24 subnet to reach the internet, you need to add this subnet to the Multiple Subnets table under Setup>Network. Otherwise RV016 will drop the packets coming from the "unrecognized" subnet.

We have tried a few combinations using multiple subnet but were unsuccessful at getting it to work. As far as Subnet and Subnet Masking goes what is preferable. Right now and in previous tests we have tried:
192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
192.168.5.0 255.255.255.0
and
192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
192.168.5.0 255.255.255.128
and
192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
192.168.5.0 255.255.255.252
Is there a more correct way to set this up?

Two class C subnets should work fine.
192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
192.168.5.0 255.255.255.0
Back to your setup, you said "Any device on the RV016 is capable of connecting to any device on switch however the other direction is not possible."
It sounds like a switch configuration issue, since the RV016 does route traffic to the .5.x subnet correctly.

Ya, I think it is probably a problem with the switch as the RV016 is routing traffic to any device on the .5.0 subnet.
Our next attempt to fix this since the multiple subnet is already in place is to create a VLAN on the switch for the 192.168.1.0 network. Based on this I guess I'm mostly curious about any intricacies that might make this work since the RV016 is not a VLAN router. For reference I have attached the add VLAN page from the switch.

Does the RV016 only support up to 5 subnets though? I have hit this wall with mine implementation!

Yes, this 5 subnets is the current limit on RV016.

Thank you for the response and I was afraid that was the answer. I need 13 at least. One for each one of my remote offices. Is there an upgrade to the RV016 Router that offers same capabilities, but more subnets?
Maybe something in the 1900 series?
