Cisco WLC Web authentication issue

Hi,

I have setup a WLC 2112 exactly as  per the different deployment guides, still I am failing to get the  certificate when using web authentication for my guest VLAN. I then also  do not get diverted to the internal web page to login in with one of  the local net users.

Also if I manually enter: https://1.1.1.1/login.html,  the page is not found, however if I browse the Dynamic guest interface  on say: http://20.20.20.10 I get the header  in the web page that says "web authentication redirect" but then nothing  happens.

Is it possible to use only one WLC 2112 with local  net user database and perform web authentication for guests via their  own dynamic interface? I do not have a second WLC to perform mobility  anchoring. Please any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I tried both https and http. No success. 1.1.1.1 is my virtual IP address and I have anchored the controller's guest WLAN to itself.

Basically, I followed the Deployment guide for version 5.2 and cannot find any issue on my config. Could it maybe my test laptop having a certificate issue?

Joe,

If you only have on controller, you don't need to anchor the WLAN/SSID.  When you do the https://1.1.1.1/login.html, do you get an security error message or you get page canno't be display?  Are you using the internal web page on the controller?

Manuel

Manuel,

I use the internal web server yes, Like I said, I can see in the title bar of the browser " Web Auth Redirection" to https://1.1.1.1/login.html but then nothng happens. Page can not be displayed. I guess this is because I dont get the initial security certificate and I dont know why. I have used 3 different browsers as well.

Joe,

Usually, you will get a security error.  Not getting anything indicate something else is the problem.   I will suggest that you open a TAC service request so a TAC engineer can look at the config, and the debugs.

Hello, I also installed Guest access, the issue is, that I need to  have https access for WLC administration, but I`d like to have only http  for the web login page, so users won`t get the certificate error. It is  any possibility, how to set this up? Under Management -> HTTP-HTTPS  menu, there is also an option "WebAuth SecureWeb". When I disable it,  users reports, they don`t get any web page so they can`t confirm and  Guest wireless doesn`t work .... Any advice how to solve it without signed certificate?

Thank you.

If your on v7.2 or newer, there is a feature just to disable http for the webauth only.
