hi! I tried to configure my cisco switch with the followig command
(config)# enable secret abcd
(config)# line con 0
(config-line)# login
password 1234
(config)# line vty 0 15
(config-login)# password 1234
but somehow the password of 1234 for the con 0 and vty 0 15 are always displayed as cleartext pwd when issue a show run command. Is there anyway i can "encrypt" this password just like the enable secret command did?
thx

Hello,
Please use the command "service password-encryption".
Hope this helps.

Correct , the "service password-encryption" command will encrypt all the passwords in the configuration file.
