Solved: How do I replace a hard disk on a 7828I4 CUCMBE ?

Anyone got any instructions on the procedure to replace a failed hard disk on a 7828I4 cucmbe ?

Is it a case of power down, replace failed disk, power up and let the server take care of everything else?

Or is there any configuration work on the server required ?

It hasn't failed yet but better to know how before the event

Hi Andy,

It looks like you are running RAID1 with two matched drives on this appliance, so it should be the same as for any old server.

According to this page from Cisco regarding the MCS7825-H3 it is simply a case of powering down, swapping the drive and powering up.

Although this is an HP server and you are using an IBM, it should be the same process for you.

HI, i have a failed drive in an IBM 7828. replacement is in but how do i resynch or confirm it is doing this. Looking t in the RRaid utility does not seem to show a way of doing this

Hi David,

Is the failed drive the same model number as the the failed (and remaining) drive?

If a simple plug in and reload does not rebuild the RAID partition I would consider raising a TAC case.

Hi Mr Dave

On the HP SATA servers I recall you had to go into the RAID BIOS util to rebuild the array. Not sure if the IBMs are the same..
