Unity 7 keep Failing over - Failover

The Unity Server keep Failing onto the Backup Sever.

I have done the the ES install, it looks better but it will work properly for 8 days then fall over onto the Backup server.

This create problems as Live Reply do not work on the backup server.

Unity Version: 7.0(2.0)

Patch installed: CU7.0(2)_ES34

Exchange 2007

The failover was prompted as a result of this event on the secondary/failover
server:

"Port 6 has detected an incoming call. This system is in inactive mode and is
configured to fail over in this condition. Fail over to this system will occur,
and the call will be answered."

The Unity cluster is configured to failover in the event of a call being sent
to or received on the failover node.

I cannot at this moment provide reasons why the call was sent over to the
failover server but this feature can be disabled in other not to trigger a
failover event in the future.

It looks like the reason for the failover is as a result of a failed response from the
Exchange server which exceeded the pre-set threshold for Unity to initiate a
failover. This explains why the call was sent over the failover server.

Find below the error generated:

==========================================================================================================================================

"A MAPI function call to the Microsoft Exchange server took 20828 milliseconds,

which exceeds the system threshold of 5000 milliseconds. The most likely causes

are an overloaded Exchange server or poor network connectivity to the Exchange

server. This is likely to affect the operation of the Cisco Unity server in a

number of ways, including slow response or delays during phone calls, ports

getting stuck or not answering calls, and Unity failover if a secondary server

is active.

To troubleshoot this problem, enable all AvWM micro traces using the Cisco

Unity Diagnostic Tool (UDT), and investigate the Exchange server for high

system load and other indications that maintainance is required. For more

information, please consult the Troubleshooting Guide For Cisco Unity with

Microsoft Exchange."

As a temporary work around you can set the primary Unity server line group hunt distribution algorithm to Circular in Communications Manager. If you are still seeing major delays from Exchange, you need to see what is going on there. Use Best Practices Analyzer from Microsoft (free download) and run it to get a report of possible performance issues. Also, where is the Exchange server in comparison with the Unity pair? They should be in the same location/building etc. If they are separated by a WAN this is not supported for this very reason.
