Temperature 6509 VSS

Dear all,

I have not really experiens with the temperature with the 6509.

I chech the enviroment and got the followin output. Is it normal or should I be alarmed?

I know the operation temp. 0-40°, but I'm afraid of the asic temp.

Thanks in advande!

Best regards

Sebastain

Hi ,

Check the output of "show environment alarm thresholds switch 1 module x" command and you will see the minor and major alarm thersholds. if the value that you are seeing is with in that range you should be good.

In my case I needed the command "sh environment switch 2 alarm thresholds". But your reply helps me much.

Thanks a lot.

best,

Hello. We have VSS cluster of two Cisco 6509 with Supervisor Engine 720 10GE.

Some time ago we began to receive env traps about exceed ASIC temperature on one SUP module from Cisco LMS:

EVENT DESCRIPTION = OutOfRange::Component=TEMP-SPB_M69-SW01F0-C/1011 [Chassis 2 module 5 asic-4 temperature Sensor-Chassis 2 module 5 asic-4 temperature Sensor];ComponentClass=TemperatureSensor;ComponentEventCode=1079;Status=OK;entSensorValue=46;CurrentValue=46.0  DEGC;

#show environment switch 2 alarm thresholds module 5

chassis id 2 switch_id 2

switch 2 module 5 power-output-fail: OK

  threshold #1 for switch 2 module 5 power-output-fail:

(sensor value != 0 ) is system minor alarm

switch 2 module 5 insufficient cooling: N/A

threshold #1 for switch 2 module 5 insufficient cooling:

  threshold #1 for switch 2 module 5 fan-upgrade required:

(sensor value != 0 ) is system major alarm

switch 2 module 5 outlet temperature: 26C

threshold #2 for switch 2 module 5 outlet temperature:

switch 2 module 5 inlet temperature: 15C

threshold #1 for switch 2 module 5 inlet temperature:

threshold #2 for switch 2 module 5 inlet temperature:

switch 2 module 5 asic-1 temperature: 44C

  threshold #1 for switch 2 module 5 asic-1 temperature:

(sensor value >= 90C) is system minor alarm

  threshold #2 for switch 2 module 5 asic-1 temperature:

switch 2 module 5 asic-4 temperature: 44C

(sensor value >= 95C) is system minor alarm

  threshold #2 for switch 2 module 5 asic-4 temperature:

How can i increase threshold of temperature alarm or filter this alarm on Cisco LMS?

Earlier, i heard that these threshold settings for envmon cannot be changed, so how can i fix this?

There are up to 1000 such alerts comes every day.

Thanks in advance.
