I have just purchased a new ASA 5510 SSM -10 and need some documentation to configure from scratch and any help would be greatly appreciated

If it is a CSC-SSM, then the guide https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-5668 will give you all you need for an initial configuration.
