Hi Mahesh,

To add to what's already been said, on a Cisco 3600 series only, there is a way to disable the creation of crashinfo files via the no exception crashinfo file device:filename command. Refer below for more information:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3/configfun/command/reference/cfr_1g03.html#wp1028469

You can configure the exception crashinfo maximum files command, however, on a Cisco IOS device to automatically delete old  crashinfo files. This  functionality helps the device create space to write the new crashinfo  files when the device crashes. This feature also allows you to configure  the number of most recent crashinfo files on a device to be saved when  no file system has enough space in which to write new crashinfo files.

This feature was introduced in IOS version 12.3(11)T. This feature is useful when there isn't enough space available across the device's file systems to write new crashinfo files.

Please refer below for more information:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3t/12_3t11/feature/guide/gt_cricm.html#wp1060522

Hope it helps,

Hi Mahesh,

You don't need to enable it.  When the system crashes, the crash file will be saved into your flash card.

Hi Mahesh,

Crashinfo is enabled by default on IOS.

There is no configuration to manually enable/disable it to my knowledge.

Hi Reza,

so as per posts no config is needed and crash file is enabled  by default and info is saved to bootflash only if it has sufficient free memory right?

thanks for reply

exception crashinfo maximum files

This command is helpful.  (+5)

Mahesh,

As per the previous reply, it is clear that the Crashinfo file is by default available and there is no need to configure.

Howver to answer you other question:

How can we check in running config if crashinfo is configured or not ?

Login to the 6509 Switch in Privelege Login

-config)# dir /all

You see all the available Directory in your Device

The Crashinfo file is generally stored in the SUPboot FLash or in DFC memory of the Line Card

You can copy to the TFTP server and use it

Refer the Cisco Link for more information

Hi,

Thanks for  reply.

thanks
