Hi there,

When I try to telnet one of my LAN switch, cisco 2950, it gives me login prompt but when I try to type in my username, its telnet session disconnects itlsef and command prompt comes back to c:\>

I woould like to know what could have caused this problem. At first I suspected there is duplicate IP in the LAN but that does not seem to be the problem.. Please let me know if anyone has encountered such incident...

Thanks in advance!

Gaurav

Hi,

From the command prompt, it seems that you are using window version of Telnet.  Can you try another application I.e putty or secure crt and test again.

Hello,

This generally happens when the username is not configured properly or if

you have configured some sort of authentication on the vty line. Can you

check the username/authentication configuration on the switch and make sure

that they are set properly?

Regards,

NT
