i have two core switch cisco 6500 , each switch has it own IDSM module. how to configure failover between IDSM module.

The IPS software (on all appliances and IDSM blades) does not support a statefull failover (unlike Cisco's many firewall products). The way to perform a version of failover is to have both IDSMs running with the same policies and statefully have traffic move from one chassis to another (maning you should not have one side of a TCP session leave via on 6509 and return via the other).
