High Cpu Utilization-4506

hi

I am facing high cpu utilization problem on my cat 4506E switch in which in betwene the utilization goes up to 45-50% and then automitacally comes down.

Software version on the switch is 12.2.53(SG2)

as per the show proc cpu output one of teh process Cat4k Mgmt LoPri is taking max share of the cpu.

Attached is the output for the same.

please suggest.(couldnt find any such bug in this particular release)

Hello,

The two processes consuming you CPU are:

- K5L3Unicast Adj Tabl 2.00 16.67

- K5 L2 Hardware Addre 2.00 22.99

These processes become active when MAC addresses are learnt and then introduced in CEF adjacency table.

You should check if you have any Layer 2 loop looking at host flapping messages on the log affecting one or more MAC addresses being learnt in two interfaces at the same time. If you messages appear try enabling the terminal monitor on the switch.
