Nexus 1000v VSM/VEM requirements

Unanswered Question

Hello to all,

We want to test in our labo a Nexus1000V solution based on two ESXi standalone nodes with a VEM installed on each one. On the same nodes we would like to install in a redundant way the VSM, it's not yet the final infrastructure since another possibility is to use a dedicated ESXi node for the VSM

My questions are the following:

  • Does the VSM support only 64bit VM??? There are no chance to install it on a 32 bit VM only for testing purposes
  • Same question as the one before but regarding the VEM...
  • which is the best solution having the VMS on the same node as the VEM or on a complete separate node?

Thanks for a feedback

Regards

I have this problem too.

Correct ESX/ESXi is only 64-bit, you'll need 64-bit servers.  To be specific the VSM requires 64-bit as the VSM application is 64-bit.
