Unable to launch device manager after upgrade

Brand new ASA 5510 with ASA 7.x and ASDM 5.x was able to run the Java ASDM and do initial config. When I found out I had to upgrade both ASA and ASDM to run the launcher on windows 7 I upgraded ASA incrementally from 7.x to 8.3 and asdm straight 5 to 6.3. Now I can't launch either the Java asdm or the downloaded and installed asdm. I see others have had this problem but haven't found a solution.

Hi

May I ask you some thing probably you could have already done it but just to make sure that you have enabled http server on your inside interface and you have allowed your internal network for ASDM access right. If you telnet to port 443 from your network to the ASDM interface you are getting it worked?

Regards

Balajirajah P B

http server enable

http 172.27.1.0 255.255.255.0 management

I checked my config prior to upgrading. Looks like everything is still as it was.

ASDM 632/8.3(2) works for me.  The only difference I have is:

A) I'm running both from disk1: at the moment

and

B) I have 2048MB of RAM, which you are supposed  to have for 8.3.x

I tried it with 822 as well, same thing.

Hi

I hope telnet works fine for you?

Regards

Balajirajah P B

Oh yes sorry, telnet 443 does work.

Can you please try wth 6.2.5 ASDM version.

Regards

Balajirajah P B

Ok, backed up to ASA 8.2(2) and ASDM 6.2(5)53.

Same thing in both the launcher and java ASDM's.

You won't believe this. I just tried the java asdm in firefox instead of IE and it's working. Dadgum Microsoft!

Attached are the errors that heppen in IE.

No further thoughts folks? Is the installed launcher using something from IE causing it to not function? My Java is 6.7 so cant be that. Proxy is fully disabled. Http 1.1 is on both for proxy and not. What's left?

I would say check your java version and installation on your workstation, have you tried an other workstation?

greetings Marc
