How does the NSS324-6 configure the drives?

I only have a 2 drive unit for evaluation and am trying to choose a unit for a customer deployment.

If I get the 6 drive unit, can the drives be configured as a storage pool? I want to be able to create many different drive types for different uses.

I need raid 5, raid 10, Raid 1 and raid 0 to be carved out of the storage pool.

Or do I have one choice based on the drives and thats it?

Each drive can only be placed in one RAID.  You can have multiple RAIDs on the a device.  So a 6-bay NSS326 could support two 3-drive RAID 5 configurations.  Or three 2-drive RAID1.  Or one 4-drive RAID5/6 and one 2-drive RAID0.  Obviously lots of combinations that you could setup with the 6-bay unit.

The Smart Storage series supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 6.  RAID 10 is not supported.

Thanks for the reply this does tell me what i need to know. We are going to install a server anyway so that should allow all the types we want.

Please ask Santa Claus to add storage pool support for Christmas.
