Downgrade 5.2 to 5.1

It is possible to downgrade a DMP version 5.2 to version 5.1. I have a DMM in the version 5.1 but I bought more DMPs but come with version 5.2 and DMM does not recognize them.

What's the best practice in this situation?

Thanks

Aurelio,

DMPs  can be reimaged (upgrade/downgrade) to any firmware version from any  firmware version. So you can downgrade your DMP from 5.2 to 5.1.

Log in the 5.2 DMP using https:// (Note you will have to use HTTPS to  log in the Web GUI for 5.2 ) and navigate to the "Upgrade Firmware" section.  Browse the relevant 5.1 DMP fwimg firmware from your PC -->Submit --> DO NOT close the Web browser while the upgrade/downgrade is in progress.

I would also encourage you to checkout the new release of DMS solution - 5.2 - which has considerable bug fixes and new features as compared to 5.1

The latest release is 5.2.1 . Release notes can be located at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_2/dms/release/notes/dms52rn.html#wp180130

Hope this helps.

hi aurelio,

I have a issue because I did a upgrade from 5.1 to 5.2, but now I want to go back to 5.1 again and I can´t find the 5.1 image, coul you send it to me??

thanks   ytamayo@gmail.com

I just wanted to elaborate on Sagar's comments.  He is correct in saying that

we can re-image the DMPs to an earlier version.  But Downgrading the DMPs

is NOT Supported.

Also, you ** COULD ** possibly render your DMP unusable in certain conditions.

So BEWARE!   There is a big gotcha when trying to downgrade from

5.2 to 5.1.

DMS 5.2 introduced NTP to the DMPs.  If your DMPs are configured for NTP while

using 5.2 and you perform a downgrade to 5.1,  Your DMP will become unusable.

NOTE:  BEFORE YOU PERFORM ANY DOWNGRADE FROM 5.2 TO 5.1,  RESTORE

THE DMP TO FACTORY DEFAULTS FIRST.  AFTER THE DMP IS BACK TO FACTORY

DEFAULTS (LIKE JUST COMING OUT OF BOX), YOU CAN PROCEED WITH DOWNGRADE.

hi Tomas

I got a issue trying to register a DMP 4400 to a DMM 5.1, the DMM see the DMPbut just for a while, and after a few seconds the dmp dissapear, and it show the red sign. The DMM never show how many storage the dmp has. I had this issue before, and I know the DMM has to see the internal storage to the DMP works.

any helps.
