VPN help needed

I'm having trouble with the home side of a work/home connection.  We had a PC crash a month ago, and our DSL modem was reinitialized.  I have the PC reloaded now and am having trouble making the VPN connection.

I hit connect.  I enter username and password.  It attempts to secure the connection but after about 20-30 seconds it quits.  I can't get past this point.

Here's a description of my system.

Windows XP with all Microsoft updates.

McAfee Total Protection

Cisco VPN Client 4.8.00.0440

AT&T DSL, logging in via PPPOE

Wireless router (currently not connected while troubleshooting, PC is connected directly to DSL)

It feels like the issue is either a DSL setting or a McAfee Firewall setting.

Any advice is recommended.
