6509 - SSO and NSF

Hi,

We have a 6509 and i wanted to understand a bit more about NSF.  The 6509 runs EIGRP, just some very basic routing but its critical to our network.  here is (some of) the show ip protocol command

Routing Protocol is "eigrp 1 1"
Outgoing update filter list for all interfaces is not set
Incoming update filter list for all interfaces is not set
Default networks flagged in outgoing updates
Default networks accepted from incoming updates
  EIGRP metric weight K1=1, K2=0, K3=1, K4=0, K5=0
  EIGRP maximum hopcount 100
  EIGRP maximum metric variance 1
  Redistributing: static, eigrp 1 1
EIGRP NSF-aware route hold timer is 240s
EIGRP NSF disabled
     NSF signal timer is 20s
     NSF converge timer is 120s

So even though it has NSF timers, to me, it looks as though NSF is actully disabled, as shown in the command in bold.

For SSO, all we have configured is:

redundancy
mode sso
main-cpu
  auto-sync running-config

So is there anything else needed to configured NSF?  Should NSF even be used?  and are the any dangers in enabling it?

thanks.

Hello,

Please refer to document http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.2SXF/native/configuration/guide/nsfsso.html

It explains how to configure NSF for EIGRP and SSO with NSF benefits and restrictions as well.

Hope this helps.
