Hi David,

I am answering your question reluctantly as I am trying to figure why to want to run G729 between IP phones.

But here is an example i just manually altered on my UC520 using CLI.

I manually  altered my ephone 6,  which is a SPA504G phone,  only as a example for my UC520.

But, my concern is  if you start to make changes to CLI, i do hope you don't loose the ability for Cisco configuration Assistant (CCA) to  manage your UC540 or UC560.  I do hope you have the skills to make changes and save changes.

As you may or may not appreciate,  the Small Business Support Center (SBSC), who manage UC540 and UC560 cases,  prefer to diagnose issues and make changes to UC540 or UC560 via CCA and not CLI.

Altering values that are normally set by CCA  could be bad if you are a newbee to UC5XX.

Please check the implications of the changes with the most current 'out of band'  configuration guide that can be searched for in this community site.
