Cisco ATA 186 to unlock door using relay

Unanswered Question

Hi anyone,

My client need objective using cisco IP phone 7940 dial the extension number( may be **) which will transmit this to cisco ATA 186 telephone adaptor port 2. The current port 1(RJ11) is connected to analog phone. Thus, they will dial the (**) port 2 destination which in turns to give some relay output to short the door contact for unlock purpose.

Now, is that can I just used the market normal relay 48V AC  relay which connect the two lines from RJ11 port 2(fxs port) and once the person dial the extension number the port 2 will generate the voltage and the relay will close contact once reaching the desired voltage?

Is it must use the viking DTMF relay RC-2A to accomplish this objective? http://www.vikingelectronics.com/products/pdf/rc-2a%28sm%29.pdf

Customer don't want to interface to the door controller, it just want to intercept into the magnetic door lock to unlock delay few seconds.

Anyone can provide the suggestion?

I have this problem too.

Dear Sir;

Recommendation is to use a doorphone from Cyberdata. However what you just mention should work properly (although no official support).
