Hello,

I am a vpn3000 concentrator with a lot of users groups configured. We are migrating it to ASA and we don't know the passwords of the users and groups. Is possible to extract the user and group passwords out of the cli or web gui?

Thanks

Jose Manuel

For the group passwords you can use this: http://coreygilmore.com/projects/decrypt-cisco-vpn-password/

You can also save the config in XML format and view the unencrypted group passwords that way.  I don't know if that will work for user passwords as I don't use local accounts on my VPN3k.

Hello Jose!

Hope you must be doing fine!

Here is the way to retrieve the group/user passwords from your VPN Concentrator:

1- Go to 'Administration| Access Rights | Access Settings' and make sure you
select "None" under "Config File Encryption".

2- Go to 'Administration | File Management | XML Export' and select a name
for the XML file. This will export your running configuration into a XML
file, which can be retrieved in the "File Management" tab.

Open the XML file and search for the group name, you will find a field with
the unencrypted password.

NOTE: Please don't forget to set back the access setting to its previous
configuration in case you want to set it back to it's original settings:
Go to -- > Administration | Access Rights | Access Settings-- > Config File
Encryption and select RC4 Select configuration file encryption, Apply and
Save

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks
