Hi All,

I would like to hard code the IP address for the router identifier field . Is there way to do it.

Global WCCP information:
    Router information:
Router Identifier:                   172.23.192.21 >>> This IP address needs to be hardcoded.
        Protocol Version:                    2.0

    Service Identifier: 61
Number of Service Group Clients:     1
Number of Service Group Routers:     2

Thanks

Wccp will use the loopback ip and if no loopback ip,the highest physical ip address on the router as the Router id(RID)

There is no way of manual hard coding this.

What you could do is on the router create a single loopback interface and give it the static ip that you would want the Wccp RID to have .

Wccp will use that Loopback ip as its RID.

Thanks

Hi Smita,

Thanks for the Info. I created Loopback IP loopback 1 172.16.1.2 and Loopback 101 with IP 192.168.0.2. I wanted the router identifier to be Loopback 1, which is not possible as per statement. Is there any way out.

Thanks

The reason for that is if you have multiple loopback interfaces then it will choose the loopback interface with the highest ip address. There is no way to get around this rule.

The only way is to use either a single loopback interface or make sure the static RID that you need has the highest ip address amongst all the loopback interfaces that you have configured on the router

Thanks
