500 Internal Server Error

Hello,

I have an AS5400 connecting my PTSN to inbound SIP calls.  The calls route in from opensips to the AS5400 and out some T's.  The calls work as expected and when the customer hangs up we get a SIP/2.0 500 Internal Server Error back from the AS5400.  I am not really sure where begin on this.  Any help would be appreciated.

Here is the invite and  bye from the AS5400

Hi,

So we've looked through this again and you're getting the 500 because of the CSEQ number being too low.

We've not got a full trace here so we can only guess that 10.0.2.5 is answering the PRACK on behalf of 10.0.2.252 - which is OK for an SBC, but it then needs to increase the value of the CSEQ as required.

You could look to work around this by

1. Turning off 100rel support on 10.0.2.252

or

2. turning off Prack support on 10.0.2.251

or

3. look at the 10.0.2.5 sbc and fix it. (code problem with opensbc) OR disable this feature on opensbc.

If you want further confirmation that this is the problem then take another complete trace and see if there's a PRACK that comes out of 10.0.2.252. If not then open SBC has invented it.

Then I think you cannot upgrade futher and have to stay with what you have.

You could try taking some more detailed ccsip debug.

Maybe some received header is causing the error, e.g.

uas-addr=63.144.249.254;rport=5060.

appears non-standard. And in any case, call flow is more complicated than indicated, there are at least two more systems involved.

I forgot to mention the sip proxy is multi-homed.  That is where the public ip comes from.

I will try more debugging and post back.

Hi,

Sending a BYE swiftly after an INVITE without waiting for the other end to respond is breaking the spec, and as a result I would expect a 500 back from your AS5400.

Please could you send the complete dialogue, so we can see what's going on?

thanks

See attachment for the dialog for the inbound from opensips --> AS5400

I did notice one other thing, if the callee hangs up first then the 500 errors occur..If the called party ends the call first there is not any 500 errors.

Thanks again.

Hi,

I think this is because the CSEQ in the bye sent to 10.0.2.251

is not greater that the CSEQ used in the Prack exchange between 10.0.2.251 and  10.0.2.87:5060

However, I'm going to ask a colleague tomorrow.

In the mean time, see if you can disable provisional responses on the sbc (10.0.2.87) and see if this works.

Adam,

you were correct.. Disabling rel1xx on the TDM gateway--10.0.2.252--did the trick.  Thank you very much, I would have never caught that.

Take care,

Brad
