Solved: 2811 Flash question

Hi All,

I have a 2811 running 12.4(4)T8

It says it has 256 MB RAM and 61 MB Flash!!??

I need to upgrade to an IOS, but all require 64 MB Flash.

According to the data sheet for this router, they should come with 128 MB Flash.

I only have remote access to this router and via SSH or SDM and it says 61 MB Flash.

I don't want to reboot the router with an image requiring 64 MB Flash (which are all the images) if it's going to die on me.

Please advise!

Hello,

If you issue a "show file system" command, you will know the actual bytes

available. Sometimes, due to formatting, you may not see the full capacity

in the output. The image/SDM you are loading will be smaller than 64 MB. So,

it should be safe to load the new image onto the device.

Let me see ... You have a 2800 ISR G1 (very good) ... it has an external compact flash bay (getting better) ...

Let me put it this way, I have a number of 2800/3800 routers, Sup32/720 cards ... They all sport 2Gb compact flash cards ... and the manufacturer of these equipment don't sell 2Gb CF card. *wink*, *wink*

Just a tip: ISR G1's support UP to 2Gb CF and G2's support up to 8Gb.
