877 Router IOS Issue

Hey

I managed to wipe my IOS from my Cisco 877 Series router.

Now using TFTP I have managed to reload the software and boot up the Router (previously I was stuck in Rommom mode).

If I power the router off and turn it back on I am brought back to Rommom mode again and have to reload the IOS again.

What command do I need to use to make the newly downloaded bin file my main flash file that the router now boots from?

Thanks a mil

Hello,

What option are you using when you TFTP the IOS to the router? Are you by

any chance using "tftpdnld -r" option? Please try the following:

Step 1: Upload the file via tftpdnld (like before)

Step 2: Boot the router

Step 3: Check the flash content and make sure that image is there.

Issue the command "show flash" at "Router#" prompt

Step 4: If the image is missing, copy the image

Issue the command "copy tftp flash" at "Router#" prompt

Step 5: Set the configuration register value to 0x2102

Issue the command "config-register 0x2102" at "Router(conifg)#" prompt

Step 6: Make sure that there is no boot statement in your configuration

Issue the command "show run | i boot system" command at "Router#" prompt and

make sure that there is no output for that command

Hope this helps.

A quick search would have revealed this to you.

config-reg 0x2102

And, you can boot from an image in flash at rommon prompt.

I couldnt boot from Rommon mode as there was no bin image at all and an error kept

being thrown back. I will try that other command, thanks.

What I mant, after you boot from TFTP, the image is copied to flash, no no further TFTP is necessary.

Hi

I reloaded my bin file from my tftp server, then went into config t when the router booted up and typed in config-reg 0x2102 as described.

I then did a copy run start.

When I powered off the router and powered it back on again I got

No bootable image: flash:/

Unable to open boot file

And I am back at the Rommon prompt again

Any ideas?

Thanks

Please publish the output of

Step1:rommon 1 > dir flash:

change the registry value

Step2: rommon 1 > confreg 0x2101  or   rommon 1 > confreg 0x2102

boot the system

Step3: rommon 2 >

boot

Hi

Here is the output I am getting.

Thanks
