Hi - I am currently peering with an ISP using a 6500 with SUP720-3B and using route maps to filter anything with a prefix length of longer than 20 bits as the 3B cannot handle the full internet routing table.
I want to peer with another ISP for redundancy - my question is, is the 256000 route limitation of the 3B based on the number of routes in the routing table or the number of routes it can hold in the BGP table?
I'm trying to work out if I can achive redundancy with dual homing without having to upgrade to a 3BXL
Many Thanks in advance
Dom

Correct. However, plan to check the logs consistently just in case.

The limitation is imposed on the number of routes in the RIB, not the BGP table.

Thanks Edison,
So it's feasable that if I use the same route-map restricting any prefixes longer than 20 bits with my new ISP, I shouldn't hit any route limits for the supervisor (providing I receive more or less the same routes from the new ISP as the existing)?
Cheers, Dom
