Hi all!

I have 4948e and as I googled - this device does not have vlan counters. When I execute:

show interfaces vlan 100 counters

The result:

Counters information is not available for Vlan100

Is there a way to use vlan counters or not?

Hi Martos,

show vlan counters

To display software-cached counter values, use the show vlan counters command.

show vlan [id vlanid] counters
Syntax Description

id vlanid

(Optional) VLAN ID; valid values are from 1 to 4094.

Defaults

This command has no default settings.
Command Modes

Privileged EXEC

So i can we use the show vlan 100 counters and check the same?

show vlan id 100 ?
  ifindex       SNMP ifIndex
  internal      Internal VLAN usage
  private-vlan  Private VLAN information
  uni-vlan      UNI VLAN information
  |             Output modifiers

These ara my options

I found the command "counter" in interface config but I am not sure why it exists.

show running-config interface vlan 3501
Building configuration...

Current configuration : 105 bytes
!
interface Vlan3501
ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.252
counter ipv4
end

And again:

show interfaces vlan 3501 counters
Counters information is not available for Vlan3501

"show int vlan X stats"   will give you counts.

Vlan80
Switching path    Pkts In   Chars In   Pkts Out  Chars Out

             Route cache          0          0          0          0
                Hardware   14690607 2222090681    8382032 1726621599
                   Total   14690607 2222090681    8382032 1726621599

Actually, after adding counter in the interface configuration the counters become working through SNMP
