OneX support on 4900M

Hello,

I'm designing a network containing two 4900M switches, which need to be linked to eachother using two 10Gb links. Instead of using X2 transceivers (X2-10GB-SR). I want to save costs and use the OneX converter (CVR-X2-SFP10G) with the TwinAx cables (SFP-H10GB-CU5M).

However, our partner tells me the OneX converter is only supported on the WS-X4908-10GE module (which is not part of my design).

I'm not convinced this is true, since the 4900M datasheet and the 10Gb compatibility Matrix do not mention this.

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of setup?

Thanks in advance.

hello

Actually, I would like to propose 4900M and Onex to reduce coste, and I have the same doubt about compatible Onex and 4900M.

do you know if this work¿

Hello Antonio,

The 4900M datasheet from Cisco is a bit unclear on this point, but this is supported!

Below are some show commands from my switch running this setup:

switch#show version
Cisco IOS Software, Catalyst 4500 L3 Switch Software (cat4500e-IPBASEK9-M), Version 12.2(54)SG, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3)

System image file is "bootflash:cat4500e-ipbasek9-mz.122-54.SG.bin"

cisco WS-C4900M (MPC8548) processor (revision 2) with 524288K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID JAE1435003D

switch#show inventory
NAME: "Switch System", DESCR: "Cisco Systems, Inc. WS-C4900M 3 slot switch "

switch# show interface Te1/3 status

Port      Name               Status       Vlan       Duplex  Speed Type

Notice that both de CVR-X2-SFP10G and the SFTP-10G-SR are installed on interface Te1/3.
