PEAP third Party certificate

I am installing a solution for a client using PEAP and Windows IAS.

I am just wondering if anyone has done this with a third party cert on a Windows IAS Radius server rather than using a Windows CA, or do I need to use a Windows CA as that is how I have always managed the certs.

If I can do you have a specification for the certificate and how to import it into a Windows IAS server
