Hi there,
Please be gentle I am new to Cisco products and some of what I am trying to acomplish.
I am considering buying an SFE2000 to seperate our network into 2 perhaps 3 VLANS. One of these VLANS will be for guests to access to the internet but not access the company network. We have a SBS2008 server inplace and I would like this server to handle the dhcp requests from the private and guest networks, this bit I am comfortable with BUT can I keep the guest VLAN seperate and forward dhcp requests to our sbs box using the SFE2000 in Layer 3 mode?
If so i would really appreciate any pointers that may help.
Hope that explains it fairly well.
Thanks
James

One way would be to run the switch in layer 2 mode and put 2 NICs in the server, or configure the NIC and TCP/IP stack to support tagged frames.

In layer 3 mode you can configure DHCP relay and multiple DHCP hosts. So that will work.
