Hi,

Since I am press for time, I am thinking of letting my CCNA expire, take the route EXAM (hopefully pass), then take the CCNA exam again. Would this make my route still valid if I do this sequence?

thanks,

Yes, there is no prerequisite for taking the ROUTE exam. It will be valid for 3 years from the date you pass.

Hope this helps.

the answer is NO. you should have at least a valid CCNA before taking any CCNP exams. hopefully, when you pass your ROUTE exam, there's no need to take CCNA exam since it would be extended.

CCNP Prerequisites
Valid CCNA certification or any CCIE Certification can act as a pre-requisite.

Until July 31, 2010 candidates have four different paths to CCNP certification:

CCNA is a prerequisite for CCNP, but not for taking CCNP level exams. So, you could take and pass all of the required CCNP exams before passing CCNA. However, you would not get the CCNP certification until you pass CCNA.

Hope this helps.
