Hi,

This is known bug in IOS 12.3. If you upgrade to 12.4T or 12.3(12.8)T the problem may go away.

The bug ide is CSCeg25043

Here is the detail:

Message saying Unable to read eeprom appears during bootup

Symptom:

A message saying "Unable to read eeprom" appears during bootup if there are any
empty slots on the router.

This is observed with 12.3(11)T, and seems to be related to smartinit. However,
the messages appear irrespective of whether smartinit is enabled or disabled.

Conditions:

The message appears multiple times if multiple slots
are empty. If all the slots are populated, the message does not appear.

Workaround:

Right now there is no workaround.

HTH

Reza

Thanks Reza!

Unfortunatly for us, we have alredy try to run it with the original IOS that our routers bring when we buy them but doesn't work.  The IOS is 12.4 (c1841-ipbase-mz.124-1c.bin).

We already try with other Flash Memory Card and if we have the 12.4(1c) IP Base IOS it stops after loading the IOS and display:

Port Statistics for unclassified packets is not turned on.

Then Stops and doesn't load

Thanks

Power down the router and reseat the PA

Boot up the router, capture the bootup process. Paste it here.

Also paste a 'sh diag' after the boot

Sorry for these question.... whn you say reset PA... what you mean?  (Port Adapter)

Unfortunetly we can't enter any command  because afeter the router starts loading and displays

Port Statistics for unclassified packets is not turned on.

Re-seat the PA (Power down the router, pull out the PA, insert it back in)

I just realized that this is a 1841, so no PA involved here. Likely a hardware failure on the box
