Quad SUP VSS how to add redundant Supervisories

I have a VSS 1440 System running under IOS 12.2(33)SXI4a consisting of

2 Chassis, each with 1 Supervisor 720 10GE running PFC3CXL.

I want to add redundant Supervisories in each Chassis without interrupting

user applications. Are redundant Supervisories hot swappable ? Are

there any special considerations which must be followed when

forming a quad sup VSS System ?

Hi Manfred,

In a Quad Sup VSS, the primary Sup in each switch is in SSO Active mode while the stand-by sup should be in RPR Warm mode.

Even though it sounds reasonable to be able to add a second sup to each switch without interrupting user application, I would not do it without on outage window.

Also, since this is very very new technology, I would do extensive testing before putting this in production.
