Is it possible to disable call recording for the supervisor desktop but still allow silent monitoring?

I have this problem too.

Hello Bill,

Unfortunately there's no way to disable recording without disabling monitoring. The problem is that the recording buttons are defaults actions on CSD that cannot be removed or edited.

As a workaround you could try something 'ugly' like renaming the Recording & Playback service on the UCCX server (RPserver)
C:\Program Files\Cisco\Desktop\bin\RPServer.exe

Another 'not so ugly' workaround would be to modify the registry entry that points to the location where recording are stored to an invalid network location, effectively breaking the recording capability:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Spanlink\CAD\Recording & Playback Server\config

Hope that helps!

I opened a case with TAC and they said to disable the recording service in appadmin.

"appadmin - system - control center - component activation deactivate the Cisco recording component."

Do you think this will cause monitoring to stop as well?

I guess that will work as well. This Cisco Desktop Recording Service is the same RPServer service. You can check that by clicking over the small glasses at the right of the service name.

However, please note that the service will be automatically started when the Node Manager or the box restarts. You might want to change the startup type to disabled from the services console.
