thanks...does wlan controller and AP needs to be on same subnet or they can be on different subnet?

Surendra BG Tue, 09/14/2010 - 20:14

Yup.. the ycan be in the different subnet... But we need to make sure that we have configured DHCP option 43 configured

Thanks..

I'm confused about following parameters:

AP Manager Interface DHCP Server:
Virtual Gateway IP Address:

they needs to be unique in the n/w right? and what they should be?
and which parameter IP address is used to manager wlan controller through gui? would that be
Management Interface IP Address?

Surendra BG Tue, 09/14/2010 - 20:34

yes.. management interface is for accessing the GUI.. AP manager should be in the same subnet of management and this is for the AP to communicate then the virtual must be 1.1.1.1 that is unique and this should be same on all the WLC.

Surendra

virtual IP 1.1.1.1 should be unique right? none of the other switch or router should have that IP. correct?

and how does AP communicates to WLC using LWAPP? is some kind of gre tunnel?

and how to convert stand alone access point to lightweight access point.

Using the archieve download-sw...  while specifying the IMAGE.. we need to use LWAPP image..
