can anyone tell me what the best uses of ip sla are ? and a simple setup for monitoring between 2 routers?

Can you tell me what you are trying to monitor? This is a list of possible sla configurations. You can configure based on your need:

Not sure about where do you want to use ip sla. The common usage of ip sla in real world is in object tracking using an ICMP echo and do dynamic failover of links.
