I´ve installed the Cisco Video monitoring ssytem on a server with windows 2003 server.

The software runs OK, but on the main console and other features of the system I only got a black secreen where should be the camera images.

In the same machine I acces the camera through http port and it runs without problems showing the camera images.

Anybody can help me with this issue?

A couple of questions - Are you running the latest version of SBVMS?

How are the camera's video outputs configured? MPEG or MPEGJ?

Are you getting an error msg? I have occasionally seen something like: 'Can't create back buffer' (if it appears again, I'll post it)

As you can see from my other msg - I'm having the same issue w/XP but it works flawlessly on Win7 - 64. Go figure.

I have reinstalled SBVMS on the XP system.

I'm working to resolve this - if I figure it out, I'll post.

Hi Frank,

Yes, I´m using the latest version.

I´ve tried both outputs, MPEG and MPEGJ.

No error messages, not even ocasionally.

Have you verified that you are using the latest firmware on the camera ?

If you have verified you have the latest firmware on the cameras, then call SBSC as suggested below.

I would try the following : In SWVMS16 go to Setup-> Setting-> Camera Tab. Search for your camera and enter the Username and Password that you set in the web UI of the camera. The default is admin/admin. Usually the reason that the video works in the web UI and not in the software is for lack of authentication. If you need further assistance please call Small Business Support at 1-866-606-1866.

Hi Riroe,

Tried your sugestion and its not working yet.

The small business support informed me that the software don´t work with Windows 2003.

But in the manual of the product, tells that it works with 2003.

I have seen this issue with Windows XP. The solution may be similar with Server 2003.

  1. Right click on the desktop and select Properties.
  2. Select the Settings tab.
  3. Select Advanced in the lower right corner.
  4. Select the Troubleshoot tab.
  5. Lower the Hardware acceleration slider to None.
  6. Test for video display.
  7. If this works, increase the Hardware acceleration until it no longer works, then back one notch.

This has worked in several cases and where it didn't changing the video card did. Please let us know if this helps you.
