I have a doubt about the licenses with cme:
I want implement CME in two branch offices initially. Next year (3rd Q) for the headquarter I will implement a cluster with CUCM. After that I will change the deployment model to centralized model with SRST.
I had to change the CME at the branchs to CME in SRST mode.
I want re-use the CME licenses (Device Licenses) in the branch with the new implementation with CUCM without to have to re purchase the licenses. It is possible?
(I know that I had to purchase licenses for new ip phones).

Thanks.

Hi Rafael,

With Cisco licensing your investment in phone licenses has always

been protected when moving between products like CME/SRST

to CUCM. I'm guessing that User Connect licensing is no different

There may be a small migration fee but you won't have to completely

re-purchase.

Here is a doc about CUWL that details this process;

Cheers!

Thanks Rob,

also I found this in the CME Ordering Guide (Jun-2010):

"

Customers migrating from Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express to Cisco Unified

Communications Manager 5.0 or later require a Cisco Unified Communications Manager device

license upgrade for the number of phone user licenses purchased. The customer should collect proof

of ownership for each Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express IP phone user license (SWCCME-

UL-79xx) purchased and provide this information plus the Cisco Unified Communications

Manager Publisher MAC address to

[email protected]. Customers will receive a licensing file to

add to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager with the same number of device points.
