Solved: static route and default route

Hi all,

Can i put static route together with default route as shown below in my 1841 router? Or will it only recognise my default route and not bother about my static route? Pls advise, thks in advance.

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 172.16.0.1

ip route 10.x.x.x 255.x.x.x 192.168.0.1

Hello,

Router always considers the specific routes (Longest Match) before considering the default route. Hence, it will consider the specific route to 10.x.x.x subnet before looking at the default route.
