RV042 VPN Fixed IP and Dynamic IP

Hi there,

I'm strugeling with creating a VPN connection from one site to another.

We have at one site a fixed IP and the other one Dynamic IP.

Now the main problem is that the both rv042 vpn routers are again begind another router (with all their ports forward to them (the vpn routers).).

Will that cause a problem?

Secondly when I try to enable DYNDNS on the router, for the remote site because off the dynamic IP, it says it's external ip is 192.168.1.1 which is the routers from my ISP. How can I fix that part?

Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue with one of my remote locations.  They are using ATT DSL at the location.  What you will need to do is see if you can configure the modem (to your network carrier) so that it is in bridge mode.  That will allow the RV042 to controll the connection to the carrier and will also supply it with an outside address.

When that is all configured your dynamic updater will show the outside address at the location and not the internal address.

Hope that helps.
