Could vPC be leveraged with Nexus 5Ks in the distro layer and stacked 3rd party switches in the access layer?

So, imagine I have a 3Com or Dell or HP stacked switches in the access layer.

I think the answer is yes because the vPC functionality (similar to VSS in the 6500s) is a product of the merging of control plane information between the Nexus switches and therefore is not dependent on the lower layer switches uplinked to them.

Thoughts?

Anyone labbed this up?

Thanks!
