Scheduled radio broadcast

Unanswered Question

I have the Cisco 2106 WLC and the Cisco 802.11a/b/g LWAP. I would like to have it setup so that the radio is only on during office hours. I was able to accomplish this with a c870 wireless router by using the configuration below.

!!Shuts down Dot11Radio 0 Minutes after the 17:00 hour Monday through Friday

event manager applet shutdown_wifi

event timer cron cron-entry "0 17 * * 1-5"

action 1.0 cli command "enable"

action 2.0 cli command "config t"

action 3.0 cli command "interface Dot11Radio0"

action 4.0 cli command "shut"

action 5.0 cli command "end"

action 6.0 syslog msg "Interface Dot11Radio0 has been shutdown"

!

!!Turns on Dot11Radio 0 Minutes after the 6:00 hour Monday through Friday

event manager applet noshut_wifi

event timer cron cron-entry "0 6 * * 1-5"

action 1.0 cli command "enable"

action 2.0 cli command "config t"

action 3.0 cli command "interface Dot11Radio0"

action 4.0 cli command "no shut"

action 5.0 cli command "end"

action 6.0 syslog msg "Interface Dot11Radio0 has been restored"

But I'm not sure how to get this to work with the WLC and LWAP.

I have this problem too.

I believe this is still a forth coming feature for the WLC.

What you could do, is a time based ACl that blocks UDP 12222/12223(LWAPP) | UDP 5246/5247(CAPWAP) from being able to reach the WLC, during non-business hours.  This will keep the AP from joining.

Alternately, you could two scripts and run them as a CRON job on a *nix server.  One that runs at 1700, ssh/telnet to the WLC and issue a config wlan x disable command.  The second running at 0800 and issuing a config wlan x enabled.
