802.3ah OAM for MST/RSTP

Hi all,

I would like to known if anyone have used 802.3ah OAM to detect a link failure in a point-to-point link running RSTP or MST, but in the case that this link is transported over a DWDM o SDH NG path, so it is possible to detect a link failure faster than RSTP would do (because I am supposing that no link down will occur)

Hello Maxi,

I did it in a recent setup with 400 msec of 802.3ah frame frequency and missing three in a row causing link to be declared down, but my links were L2 trunks with two vlans/SVIs over them on one side and a router with subinterfaces on the other side.

Note:

802.3ah frames travel untagged in my setup but it works with GE over SDH.

I think you can do it.

Thanks for your help. Do you have any configs to share in the L2 Trunks side? What I'm looking for is how 802.3ah notify MST that the link is down..
