I have a sony VAIO PC that is unable to connect to wireless if i have WPA and WPA2 encryption. when I decrease the security to WEP the device is connecting well. the laptop never asks for the user name and password of the AD
The type of security i am running WPA2 802.1x with EAP-PEAP MSCHAPv2
Kindly note the following:
- Wireless driver is updated to the latest release. I can see WPA and EAP support on the wireless driver
- OS running windows XP service pack 3
any idea why i am facing this problem???
You may be facing a certificate issue on the laptop.
If the wireless client is set to use PEAP as you have suggested then the default setting is usually to verify the server certificate. This would mean you'd need to install a certificate on the laptop. However, there should be a setting on the client to disable the 'validate server certificate' if you don't want (or are unable) to install a certificate on the laptop.
See attached file for a couple of screenshots.
