We have one single Unity 4.0.5 on a really old Cisco server and we are looking
at renewing the Tac support for one more year since next year is the last date end of life
We've got the following quote from ATT
Quantity 300 ESW UNITY-VM-USR $2,400
Quantity 1 ESW UNITYU4-100USR $1,350
If I only want TAC, do I need to pay two ESW??
First, there is no more upgrades that can be done on this server since the old hardware can't supported.
What are the 300 units?
Please any help will be appreciated.

How many users and of what type (VM vs. UM) are you licensed for?
ESW is purchased according to the number of users/subscribers licensed on the system.

UM 300 users.

This SKU 1 ESW UNITYU4-100USR is a base SKU that includes 100 users. The second is a per user SKU in which you are being quoted 300 individual licenses. The best recourse for you is to contact your reseller and ask them why you are paying for 400 licenses (100 included in base SKU) instead of the 300 you need.

So for what you are saying, If I want TAC on this Unity server I have
to pay accordingly to the number of users I currently have?
Lets say I have a unity server box with 10 users (I will pay $100 - just to say a number)
or I have same server with 300 users (I will pay $2,400)
Why such a big difference if it's the same Tac service??

ESW is software support - you pay based on the number of licenses.
SmartNet is hardware support - you pay per server.
So, in your case - you will pay for ESW for a system of 300 users.
