Personal Communicator 7.0 "Unknown Login Failure"

We have a customer that is DNS enabled and has CUCM 7.1(3) integrated with Active Directory.  Today their primary AD (and DNS) server went offline.  Now, when they attempt to log into Personal Communicator 7.0 (with Unified Presence 7.0.8), they receive an "Unknown Login Failure".

This appears to be a direct result of the server being down.  However, I had setup a secondary server whenever possible.  CUP does not appear to be failing over.  Any idea what's wrong (besides the primary AD/DNS server being down)?  I would think I should be able to recover from the primary AD server going down.

As I understand it the users are auth'd vai CCM, so have you got a suitable list of DCs listed in the LDAP authentication section in CCM?

Can the same user account log in to CCMUser on the CallManager?
